Conditions of carriage

The rules that apply to every shipment we carry: what we accept, how we handle it and what happens if something goes wrong.

Last updated: 2026-09-13

1. Shipments we accept

Standard, non-hazardous parcels and documents within our published service area. We do not carry temperature-controlled goods, biological specimens or dangerous goods. Anything outside the area, or heavier than the published limits, needs a written agreement first.

2. Prohibited items

  • Cash, bullion, negotiable instruments and jewellery above $500 in value.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives and fireworks.
  • Illegal drugs and unlicensed controlled substances.
  • Dangerous goods requiring TDG placarding, unless agreed in writing in advance.
  • Live animals and human remains.
  • Perishables without the cold-chain service.

3. Packaging

The sender is responsible for packaging. Items must withstand normal handling, stacking and vehicle movement. We may refuse a shipment that is clearly inadequately packed.

4. Weight and dimensions

Billable weight is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, calculated as length × width × height in centimetres divided by 5000. We may re-measure and re-weigh at the hub; the corrected figures apply to the invoice.

5. Liability and insurance

Unless a higher declared value is purchased in advance, our liability for loss or damage is limited to $100 per shipment or $4.41 per kilogram of the gross weight, whichever is greater, in line with standard carriage practice in Québec.

We are not liable for damage caused by inadequate packaging, for goods prohibited under section 2, or for delays caused by weather, road closures, strikes or other events beyond our control.

6. Claims

Visible damage must be noted at delivery and reported to us within 48 hours. Concealed damage or loss must be reported within 7 days of the delivery date. Keep the packaging until the claim is settled; we may ask to inspect it.

7. Undeliverable shipments

If a shipment cannot be delivered after reasonable attempts, we contact the sender and return it. Return transport is billed at the applicable rate.

8. Proof of delivery

Delivery is evidenced by the recipient's signature, the time stamp and, where available, a photograph taken at the delivery point. These records are available from your account.
